No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
