Omaha Hi-Low: General Overview

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complicated but favored poker games. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure game, has increased in acceptance so quickly.
Omaha 8 or better starts like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to every player. A round of betting ensues in which players can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is known as the flop. Another round of wagering ensues. After all the gamblers have either called or folded, another card is flipped on the turn. a further sequence of wagering ensues and then the river card is flipped. The players will have to put together the strongest high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a number of entrants can get baffled. Unlike Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to use exactly three cards from the board, and exactly 2 cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It is the best hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the identical notion in almost all poker games.
A low hand is more complicated, but really opens up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the weakest hand that could be put together, with the lowest value being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the higher hand wins the entire pot.
It may seem difficult initially, after a few hands you will be able to get the basic subtleties of the game simply enough. Seeing as you have people wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and since so many cards are being used at once, Omaha 8 or better offers an exciting collection of betting options and because you have many individuals battling for the high hand, along with many battling for the low hand.
