Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Posted in Poker on 06/01/2019 01:25 pm by FelipeGus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While competing in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world could be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
