Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Posted in Poker on 02/06/2019 08:25 am by FelipeGus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players in the world. While betting on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
