Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
