NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Posted in Poker on 09/19/2015 03:21 pm by FelipePhil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
