No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
