Concentrate on Annie Duke
Posted in Poker on 02/25/2010 08:21 pm by FelipeAnnie Duke may not have earned her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most feared poker competitors around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s longawaited WSOP bracelet came with success at the "cast aside game" of Omaha hi lo.
While players from the "younger crowd" of poker go crazy following a large win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mom" to her 4 kids. Annie was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of card competitors. If you do not believe that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who coached her how to play the game.
However, Mrs. Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has succeeded at her cut of challenging tables, including eliminating Howard a few times along the way. They’re both competitors that have the capability to acquire the big bucks and do so with a grin.
Annie Duke is a strong player at any poker table because she is a legitimate poker player, but it’s a little more than simply being skilled at the game. Annie is incredibly smart and graduated from Columbia U where she double majored in Psychology and English.
When you sit across from her at the table you’ll see she is there to compete in the game and she starts "summing" you up from the time you sit down at the poker table. If you can’t gamble like a camp, then do not bother.
Acquiring over $3 million in tournament play, Mrs. Duke became a adviser to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who was looking to enhance his techniques and become a force at the poker table.
You might see her at the Bellagio, you’ll notice Annie on the tv and you may even play against her in a web poker game, but don’t expect an easy win. Unless you are a camp-in-the-making, you will not beat her. Although, it’d be exciting to mention you played at the same table as "The Duke".
