Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Posted in Poker on 06/28/2009 02:20 pm by FelipeGus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players around the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money rounds?
